Cloud Platform – Release Notes: January 31, 2014

Updated by Richard Seroter on Feb 10, 2014

New Features (2)

  • High performing Hyperscale servers. The CenturyLink Cloud now offers Hyperscale servers designed for distributed workloads that require premium performance. This new instance type includes local SSD storage that delivers a minimum of 15,000 IOPS. Customers should use Hyperscale servers for NoSQL databases, Hadoop processing, and high performing websites. This class of server is currently available in the NY data center location.

  • Updated beta of Groups UI page in the Control Portal. We've released the latest beta of the redesign of the Groups page which makes it easier to manage servers across data centers, quickly see summary data for each Group, and perform quick actions against a Group.

Minor Enhancements (3)

  • API users can now access custom fields in sub-accounts. A developer using the API to query custom fields can now access this data for servers/groups in the parent account or any child accounts.
  • Add custom description to each VLAN. VLANs now support user-friendly descriptions that make it easy to identify the role of that specific network in the topology.
  • Inherited Global discounts. Discounts applied at the root parent account level can now cascade instantly to all sub-accounts. This setting can be toggled on and off by a CenturyLink Cloud administrator. Contact your account manager for more details.
