Intelligent Traffic Manager (ITM) Global Load Balancing Service

Global, DNS-based load balancing service.

Intelligent Traffic Manager (ITM) is a powerful, DNS-based, web-administered service that enables businesses to transparently direct wide-area traffic across multiple servers and data centres for optimal performance and availability.

A cost effective add-on component to your web hosting solution, ITM seamlessly interfaces with existing load-balancing solutions, allowing clients to reduce the cost of deploying, operating and maintaining traffic management systems.

Traffic is routed through ITM to the appropriate data centre based on load sharing, proximity and availability policies that are defined through the self-service ITM web portal. Traffic is typically routed from the ITM to a load balancing device in the data centre that front ends the application servers.

The ITM Service consists of:

  • Access to the ITM Network
  • ITM software-as-a-service
  • Subscriber chosen allowance
  • Access to administration and reporting website
  • 24x7 Support

Features

  • Easy to Use: Securely administer the service using a web-based portal.

  • Economical: Subscription-Based Service, can be deployed without investing in expensive hardware or software.

  • Future-Proof Technology: Automatic updates ensure you are always running the latest version.

  • Fast and Easy Implementation: The service can be turned up quickly.

Use Cases

  • Global Load Balancing: Traffic requests are distributed over multiple servers based on policies that specify the percentage of traffic to be sent to each. Traffic can be directed based on set ratios or amount of traffic desired at each server based on individual server capacity.

  • Automatic Overflow and Failover: Traffic requests are distributed based on availability of servers; overflow policies handle spillover traffic or all traffic in the event of a total failure.

  • Geographic Intelligence: Traffic is routed based on the location of the request. ITM detects where the end-user is located and routes them to the closest and best-performing application server. Policies can be defined based on continent, country, U.S. state or U.S. time zone of the requesting IP address.

Service Level Agreement

  • 99.999% availability for ITM itself.

  • 99.99% availability for the ITM portal.
