What is AWS Direct Connect

AWS Direct Connect links your internal network to an AWS Direct Connect location.
One end of the connection is connected to your network, the other to an AWS Direct Connect router.
With this connection in place, you can create virtual interfaces directly to the AWS cloud services, bypassing the public Internet.
An AWS Direct Connect location provides access to Amazon Web Services in the region it is associated with, as well as access to other US regions.
For example, you can provision a single connection to any AWS Direct Connect location in the US and use it to access public AWS services in all US Regions.
There are two connetion options available for Direct Connect, dedicated and hosted. Dedicated Connection is made through a 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, or 100 Gbps Ethernet port dedicated to a single customer. Hosted Connections are sourced from an AWS Direct Connect Partner that have a network link between themselves and AWS. For hosted connections, the possible values are 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps, 300 Mbps, 400 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2 Gbps, 5 Gbps, and 10 Gbps. Note that only those AWS Direct Connect partners who have met specific requirements may create a 1 Gbps, 2 Gbps, 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps hosted connection. Lumen can provide Lumen Cloud Connect with different connection options and speed to AWS to meet your business needs.
