Big Data Foundation Services: Cloudera   

Managed Cloudera solution hosted on CenturyLink infrastructure.

Big Data Foundation Services: Cloudera includes CDH (the software developed by Cloudera). CDH is a distribution of Apache Hadoop and data management tools used by clients to integrate and analyse information.

The software supported is Hadoop Cloudera – CDH5. The following additional features are supported:

  • Sqoop
  • Pig
  • Hive
  • Flume
  • Oozie
  • ZooKeeper
  • HBase – with the purchase of the Basic + HBase package

Software licences can be supplied by either CenturyLink or the client. The service is designed to run on CenturyLink’s Managed Server: Intelligent Hosting platform. The following services are available for an additional charge:

  • Enhanced features including Impala, Navigator, and Enterprise Backup Disaster Recovery (BDR)
  • Minor Releases
  • Major Releases
  • HBase Setup and Configuration
  • HBase Monitoring and Analysis


  • Packaged solutions to help clients formulate a big data strategy, quickly take it into proof of concept, and seamlessly scale into production when the time is right.

  • Choice of 4 infrastructure platforms designed for specific workloads; (Standard, Large, High Storage, and Performance).

  • Clients have the choice of utilising Cloudera licenses from CenturyLink or bringing their own.

Use Cases

  • DevOps: Engineers building Hadoop-based apps can take advantage of hosted CenturyLink infrastructure to accelerate product development. Develop new features and test apps on instances running Cloudera, then deploy the new enhancements in production.

  • Real-time Analytics: Cloudera is ideal for making sense of security information and event management (SIEM), financial end-of-trading-day number crunching, and log analysis from machines or sensors.
